Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer at St. John's and Our Lady & St Joseph
Morning Prayer (Lauds) is usually celebrated at St. John's on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 8:40-8:55. It is also celebrated at our neighbouring parish of Our Lady & St. Joseph (in the village of Stock) on Thursdays at 9:10 and Saturdays at 9:40. Both churches have a small number of books available for use so it is not necessary to have your own.

If you have not attended Morning Prayer before and are unfamiliar with the structure then please be assured that one of the regular attendees will be more than willing to help you. Morning Prayer is a wonderful way to start the day and a delightful way to encounter scripture and particularly the psalms. Please come along and give it a try!

What is the format of Morning Prayer?
Morning Prayer opens with a hymn, two psalms and a canticle from the Old Testament. A reading, the Benedictus and a number of short intercessons follow. The Our Father and a concluding prayer bring Morning Prayer to its close.

Morning Prayer Online, via Smart Phone Apps or E-Books
If you are unable to attend Morning Prayer in person, it is also available via www.universalis.com. Smart phone apps are available for Apple, Android and Windows devices. E-books are available for Kindle and ePub. The Universalis Web site and Apps have been created to give everyone the chance to participate in the Church's universal prayer.
