Children's Liturgy

The Children’s Liturgy Group meets during the first half of the 11 o’clock mass on Sundays at St John's. At the beginning of Mass Fr Anthony invites the younger children of the congregation (normally those age 8 and under) into the parish room with our DBS checked leaders. Parents of very young children are welcome to join us if that makes the child more comfortable.

During children's liturgy we normally follow the Liturgy of the Word in an age appropriate manner. We will then have a short discussion about the meaning of the gospel and the children can complete a craft activity before we return to the church to join the rest of the congregation for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

We normally have two or three family masses during the year (Spring, Harvest and the Christmas Nativity) where the children take a major role in the service; readings, bidding prayers, offertory etc and we are looking to increase the frequency of this in 2017. During the Nativity mass we invite the children to come dressed as shepherds and angels and help act out the Christmas story.

We warmly invite you to join us at our Children’s Liturgy Group. For further information please contact Helen Walsh on 07940 784766 or by email Helen.r.walsh@gmail.com
