Congratulations! If you are reading this it is probably because you have a new baby, or are expecting a new addition to your family. Perhaps you are wondering if an older child can also be Baptised. Here is some information to help you:

Baptism (of infants and young children) is usually celebrated on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2:00pm except during the seasons of Advent and Lent and on certain pre-arranged Saturday afternoons.

These are the following dates available for infant's baptism for 2018:
  • 11th February
  • 22nd April
  • 27th May
  • 17th June
  • 22nd July
  • 26th August
  • 23rd September
  • 21st October
  • 18th November
Prior to the Baptism, parents (and Godparents if they live in the Deanery of Brentwood), are invited to attend a 2 hour session at the church to help prepare for your child’s Baptism. Infant Baptism Preparation Courses with Fr. Anthony will be held at 7.30 – 9.30 p.m. on 18th January 22nd March, 19th April, 24th May, 14th June, 19th July, 23rd August, 20th September, 18th october and 15th November. Please contact Fr. Anthony to register your child's Baptism and to arrange your course dates before confirming the date of your child’s Baptism.

It is usual to make contact at least six months in advance of the desired Baptism date but we understand that there may be circumstances where this is not possible so please don’t hesitate to call and discuss your situation with Fr Anthony.

When thinking about choosing Godparents for your child, the Church has some guidelines which Fr Anthony will be more than happy to explain to you.

It is wonderful that you are considering having your child Baptised as this sacrament is the basis of the whole Christian life. We will do all we can to help you as you prepare for this important step for your child.
